DojoCon Japan is a free, nationwide event on August 27, 2016 in Osaka with sessions and activities for children and mentors.
This event is where volunteers mentor and teach kids about coding and how to apply them in electronics, gadgets and toys.
It expects 200 participants in total, with current and new kids, mentors and parents attendees.
Preceding DojoCon Japan are CoderDojo sessions, conducted in smaller groups all around the world.
CoderDojo is a global movement of free, volunteer-led, community based programming clubs for young people. At a Dojo, young people, between 7 and 17, learn how to code, develop websites, apps, programs, games and explore technology in an informal and creative environment. In addition to learning to code attendees meet like minded people and are exposed to the possibilities of technology.
Within the CoderDojo Movement there is a focus on community, peer learning, youth mentoring and self led learning, with an emphasis on showing how coding is a force for change in the world.
Started in Ireland, the CoderDojo community started growing. In Japan, we currently have 37 CoderDojos and it continues to grow.

Activities for kids include learning how to code using Scratch, electronics, Arduino, toys and educational materials children use in their coding activities.
Dojo sessions also teaches kids on how to express themselves, make presentations and public speaking that can help them in the future.
With the increase in children joining, the organizers are inspired to hold a nationwide CoderDojo, DojoCon Japan 2016.
