Let’s Encrypt, the free automated open certificate authority is about to change what we understand web security.. again.
Since their launch in 2016, Let’s Encrypt gave developers the ability to issue SSL certificates for their servers and projects at no cost. Now for January 2018, they’ve announced Wildcard Certificate support.
Wildcard Certificates can support multiple domains across many servers. For the number of certificates that Let’s Encrypt issues, which is currently at about 50 million active, this could be a huge advantage for them and developers managing multiple certificates.
What does this mean for AMIMOTO?
If you run one of the AMIMOTO Self-Hosting AMIs from the Amazon Marketplace, this is great news for you. Spinning up a new server with AMIMOTO takes about 1 minute so applying that wildcard certificate would right into your workflow.
